Buck Fever examines an intense connection between a young couple, Gabriel and Mary Jen, after having a one-night stand. When Mary Jen’s mother, Estelle, and stepfather, Aaron, arrive at Mary Jen’s studio apartment unexpectedly, a furiously paced, humorous tale unfolds, unearthing dark secrets from the lovers’ pasts. Confronted with their demons, Mary Jen and Gabriel each find freedom from their past and salvation in the other person.

THE BUCK FEVER TEAM:
Juan C. Sanchez (playwright) studied theater at Florida State University and New World School of the Arts, and is heavily involved in the Miami theater scene. Written as part of Downstage Miami, a program administered by the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council that provides support to Miami-based playwrights, Juan developed Buck Fever under the mentorship of Leslie Ayvazian, Eduardo Machado and A.R. Gurney. This past year, he served as a preliminary judge in the playwriting track for the NFAA's A.R.T.S Competition. Buck Fever is a wonderful play, and terraNOVA is proud to be presenting its world premier this fall.
James Carter (director) is a dramatist, poet, producer and promoter. As a director, JD has helmed numerous staged readings and several one acts. He also directed Breathing Affirmations: Catharsis Postmidnight (Center Stage, NY - terraNOVA'S ONE Solo Arts Festival 2004), The Gold Wutahkee (Theatrix at The Duplex) and Don Nigro’s Seascape with Sharks and Dancer (The Producer’s Club). He’s tossed his poetry down at venues and events such as The Bowery Poetry Club, Bar 13, Nuyorican Poets' Café, Westside Rhyme, The Lobby, and Artists’ Night. JD also wrote and co-produced Baby Steps in October 2003 for terraNOVA. Additionally, he has written several full-length screenplays including Prana, Exiled and Double Shift, and the adaptation of Baby Steps.
Jennifer Conley Darling (producer) is the Artistic Director of terraNOVA Theatre Collective. Producing credits with terraNOVA include: Baby Steps on Theatre Row; The Cuchulain Cycle at The Lovinger Theater; Our Bar at The Chelsea Playhouse as well as a midwestern tour. Stage Managing credits include: Synapse Productions’ Machinal (Ohio Theater), Bloody Poetry (Connelly Theater), Adventures of Brer Rabbit (Henry Street Settlement), The Phoenician Women (Ohio Theater), Animal Farm (Connelly Theater); Naked Angels’ The Issues Project: Democracy (The Culture Project/45 Below); Managing Director of Rattlestick Productions, 1999-2000. Acting credits: Baby in Baby Steps, Shen Teh/Shui Ta in Good Person of Szechwan, Sam in Our Bar, Eithne Inguba in The Cuchulain Cycle all with terraNOVA as well as several independent films and television appearances.
