ABOUT soloNOVA ARTS:
soloNOVA ARTS began as the soloNOVA Arts Festival in 2004 as a vehicle to showcase innovative solo artists representing various artistic disciplines, cultures and perspectives. The soloNOVA Arts Festival was the longest-running solo performance festival in New York City, curated to showcase the best in puppetry, dance, magic, physical theatre, multi-character monologues, multi-media, and other innovative forms of solo storytelling.

Over the 10-year-history of the festival, terraNOVA Collective has presented over 300 of the best solo performers from New York City and internationally. soloNOVA productions have been honored with 35 New York Innovative Theatre Award nominations and 6 awards.

Now in its 11th season, terraNOVA Collective has re-envisioned soloNOVA to support solo artists year-round at different stages of development.

This season, we are offering two modes of soloNOVA presentation: Workshop (June 2014) and Production (fall/winter 2014).

soloNOVA ARTS Workshops are for plays which meet the following criteria:
  • Artist availability in June 2014 for 2-3 staged readings

  • Consultation on presenting and promoting a solo performance for future work
  • Full access to an industry and general audience with 2-3 staged readings as part of our Groundworks New Play Series in June 2014

soloNOVA ARTS Productions are for plays which meet the following criteria:
  • Have received a previous presentation and / or are production ready
  • Are open for review by press
  • Artist availability in late 2014 / early 2015 for 2-5 performances depending on availability

'For frazzled New Yorkers, it’s a familiar story, but one that benefits from the performer’s sharp comic timing and flurries of karate-meets–boot-camp interpretive dance.' ****
- Time Out New York CRITICS' PICK

'You could talk all day about the pressures that come with being a modern woman and not say it half as well as Charlotte Bydwell shows and tells it in forty-five minutes... Bydwell nailed it!'
- NYTheatre.com

'Bydwell is captivating on stage... Leisure and Panic is an impressive first full-length solo creation, and Bydwell is one to watch.' - Showbusinessweekly.com
